Carrier, Stephanie Controller scarrier@swmetalsmiths.com
I have worked in the Accounting Department at Southwest Metalsmiths since 2001. Most currently, as Controller, my primary tasks are to oversee the entire Accounting Department as well as handling Accounts Receivable.
I really enjoy working at SMI because I get to work with such a fun group of people. We strive to make each employee feel like they help make SMI what it is today. There is always such a buzz of activity in the building; whether it is the Engineering Department typing on their keyboards or the sound of welders and grinders out in the shop. It is really remarkable to be able to see a design go from a simple idea to a beautifully polished finished product. |

Fennessy, Tom Purchasing Manager tfennessy@swmetalsmiths.com
I have been at SMI for 7 years. I’m certified in both purchasing and inventory management and I have a broad range of experience in the metals industry. I like the variety of products here and the challenge of building our projects within the parameters of a limited budget. I get the most satisfaction from buying the best quality at the best price. It’s great when I can do that and also have it delivered the next day! |

Glasgow, Bob Elevator Division Shop Foreman bglasgow@swmetalsmiths.com
I was a cabinet maker for 25 years before coming to SMI. This company and my job are very interesting to me because everything is custom. Its great to see designs and plans from architects actually built and functioning. I enjoy working with people and spend a great deal of my time training as well as supervising the fabrication of elevator interiors. I have been at SMI for 16 years and enjoy the variety of materials and designs we work with everyday. The Phoenician is probably my favorite project. Many parts of the design seemed impossible at first, but it all came together beautifully. |

Heath, Tabatha Project Manager theath@swmetalsmiths.com
We are challenged with projects everyday that test our ability to solve technical and logistical problems. I see every challenge as a new success story waiting to be written. When I take on a new project at SMI it is an opportunity for me to participate in a new learning experience. I enjoy multi-tasking and I am tenacious in my search for answers. Southwest Metalsmiths provided me the opportunity, but the people that I work with have shared their experience and knowledge with me and this is what it takes to be a successful project manager at Southwest Metalsmiths. I enjoy working with people and it is very satisfying to me to see a project I managed successfully completed. Some of my favorite projects were Phelps Dodge, Fashion Show and Dallas Galleria. |

Hoverson, Rob Welder/Fabricator rhoverson@swmetalsmiths.com
I have high standards for the quality of work I do and I try to encourage the people I work with to have those same standards. I really enjoy working with people and sharing the job skills I have learned in my 15 years at SMI. What I really like about working at SMI is the variety of materials and types of projects. One of my favorite projects was Phoenix City Hall. |

I came to SMI looking for a new challenge. I have been involved with ornamental metal fabrication and installation for 16 years. As an estimator in the metal division at SMI, my task is to provide our clients with competitive prices for quality SMI products. SMI's professionalism, from our staff to our products, is unmistakable. I'm happy to be apart of SMI and I stand behind our work.

Owens, Dale Field Operations Manager dowens@swmetalsmiths.com
I have been with SMI for 11 years. I enjoy working with the project managers and helping to coordinate the installation of a project. It is very interesting to me to see a set of drawings become a real tangible thing. What we build requires the use of many types of materials. Our installers have to pay attention to details and understand how to work with a variety of materials and types of installations. Every project is different. |

Palmero, Manny Florida Sales Representative mpalmero@swmetalsmiths.com
As a salesman, my primary job is to introduce our product, which is second to none, to the local developers, architects, engineers and contractors. I am also responsible for project management in the Miami area. I have over 20 years of construction related experience in this market and I have developed a broad network of customers and friends over the years. I have only recently joined the company, and we are busy with Concourse ‘J’ at the Miami International Airport. All of the people I have met and talk to at SMI have been very helpful. It’s a pleasure to work for this company. I like to work and it sets a good example for my children to see me work everyday. Its even better when I enjoy my work. |

Preininger, Edward Shop Supervisor
In addition to welding and fabricating metals projects, my responsibilities also include assisting the Shop Supervisor with training and development of new personnel. Managing the production of the metals division requires a variety of skills. You have to know the technical part of your job, but you also have to enjoy working with people. I love the unique products we build and the fact that we have products all over the world. I get a lot of satisfaction from knowing that we can build things that other people may not know how to build.. I’ve been at SMI for 14 years. I was very proud of the Kiosks we built for Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C.. The architect and general contractor were very complimentary of our work and I personally supervised that project. |

Senior, Richard Engineering Supervisor rsenior@swmetalsmiths.com
I’ve been drawing since childhood, so what better job could I have than one that allows me to draw for a living. I have twenty years of professional experience and have won two national design awards. I have been at SMI for 6 years and find it to be very challenging work because the architectural metals field is so diverse. My responsibilities also include supervising the engineering staff, training new employees, coordinating submittal drawings and fabrication drawings schedules. There is never a dull minute. Two of my favorite projects to draw were Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas and George Bush International Airport in Houston. |

Somers, Eric Welder/Fabricator
What makes my job unique is that my skills are multi-tasked and unlimited. The most important skill is willingness to learn. I have to be innovative and try new methods to solve fabrication problems. It is fascinating to me to take a drawing and turn it into reality. I enjoy my work and take pride in going the extra mile’ to make sure my standards are met before anyone else has a chance to see it. I love the variety of work we do at SMI. There is not any project we can’t do. |

Smith, Mark Metals Division Estimator msmith@swmetalsmiths.com
I am very organized, meticulous and detail oriented about most things I do. My attention to detail really helps me in estimating project cost. I have a huge appetite for information. I need to know how things work and how they are constructed. Its all very interesting to me. What gives me the most satisfaction about my work is a successful bid. When I pick apart a large complicated project, sometimes working on it for weeks and then to have it sell and make money for the company....that is very satisfying. Some of my favorite projects are Staples Center, Phelps Dodge and Tempe Arts Center. |
 |

|
Toney, Jim Project Manager jtoney@swmetalsmiths.com
I have 12 years experience in metalworking including welding, fabrication, installation, estimating and project management. I enjoy the challenge of custom metal fabrication and knowing that not just anyone can do what we do. I enjoy the comments from the other trades on the jobsite. They can’t believe the stuff we do. |

Whittle, Michael Executive Vice President mwhittle@swmetalsmiths.com
Southwest Metalsmiths is a company with an entrepreneurial spirit. When we begin a project we may not have all the answers, but when we finish we are experts. We may never do the same scope of work again, but we learn from our successes and our failures and we apply what we learn to every new project.
Opportunity to apply my creativity is essentially what makes me happy at work and home. You have to be creative and dynamic to respond to the variety of opportunities presented to Southwest Metalsmiths, Inc.
I am very proud of the work we do and of the people who work in this company. |
